With a desire to produce films which highlight our commonality and shine a spotlight on issues of social concern, Renee Fischer launched Spring and Fall Productions, with fiscal sponsorship through Fusion Partnerships.
Its last documentary, “Book By Its Cover,” was completed in 2020, aired on Maryland Public Television and PBS’ digital online player, and was nominated for a regional Emmy. The film follows three dads who are inmates at the Baltimore County Detention Center as they participate in a literacy program which allows contact visits, reading to their children. When a parent is sentenced to jail time, his/her whole family can be put into crisis and survival mode, and 2.3 million children in the United States have an incarcerated parent. Spring and Fall Productions’ latest documentary, “Forager,” is in production! It features a nationally recognized Baltimore chef who is known for his vibrant seasonal-only menu, but who also battled addiction as well as faced uncertain times for his restaurant during the Covid-19 mandated shutdown.
